Launching Boise Design Week in 30 Days

Boise Design Week launched with Lecture Series 01: LAUNCH, a one night event created to bring Boise’s creative community together around process, strategy, and new ideas.

I led the marketing rollout for the debut, introducing a brand new creative platform while building its first audience. Within one month, the campaign helped bring 100+ people to the event and generate 125+ newsletter signups for future programming.

The Brief

Introduce Boise Design Week to Boise’s creative community and build an audience around its first public event.

With only one month to promote LAUNCH, the campaign needed to create awareness for a brand people had never encountered before, drive attendance, and give the new platform an audience it could continue reaching after the event.

My Role

  • Marketing strategy

  • Launch campaign planning

  • Social media strategy and content

  • Event promotion

  • Community outreach

  • Audience growth

  • Newsletter acquisition

Challenge

Boise Design Week was starting from zero. There was no established audience, previous event history, or existing community around the brand.

That meant marketing LAUNCH was also the introduction of Boise Design Week itself. The campaign needed to quickly establish what the platform was, who it was for, and why Boise’s creative community should pay attention.

Approach

I built the campaign around the people and ideas behind LAUNCH instead of relying only on traditional event promotion.

Social content introduced the speakers, highlighted their work, and gave audiences a clearer idea of the conversations and creative thinking they could expect at the event. I paired that with direct outreach to local designers, agencies, studios, and other creative professionals to reach people already active in Boise’s design community.

I also made audience growth part of the launch strategy. Alongside driving attendance, I promoted newsletter signups so Boise Design Week could continue communicating with people after the event and begin building an owned audience for future programming.

The marketing worked within the visual identity developed for LAUNCH, translating the event’s creative direction across promotional touchpoints while keeping the campaign focused on awareness, attendance, and long term audience growth.

Results

LAUNCH brought 100+ people to Boise Design Week’s first public event and generated 125+ newsletter signups during the initial launch. The campaign gave a brand new platform both an in person audience and a direct channel to continue reaching that community after the event.
